In 2013, Aída Colmenero launched the 'Ella Poema/She Poems' project, a creation of contemporary art made alongside African artists.
In each African country visited, Colmenero offers a dance workshop and chooses a dancer with whom he begins a process that starts with the choice of a poem. After a previous work only with the poem, it becomes a video creation and a scenic one. Aida Colmenero presents for the first time in Australia 7 pieces of her 'Ella Poema/She Poems' project in Sydney to show us independent and creative African women.
The message of Aida Colmenero is quite clear, although she manifests it through poetry, photography, dance and music: the identity of the African woman, the defense of human rights for women and equal opportunities.
Online audience will have the opportunity to view 7 pieces and send questions to the director, who will reply online to them on a Youtube video.
