Have you ever wanted to become more sustainable but don't know how? Well, join this informative and fun sustainability class!
This session will provide an opportunity to expand and refine your sustainability journey in the company of likeminded people within your community. It will be hosted by Celia and Peter who are keen to share the many lessons they've learnt on their path to living lower impact lives.
Comprising a mix of demonstrations, 'show and tell', and knowledge sharing, they are keen to show you how achievable and affordable these changes can be. They hope their experiences might provide you with ideas you can implement in your homes and communities.
The session will cover:
practical ways to reduce waste and plastic usage at home, shopping, at work and at play.
alternatives to reduce consumerism and counter fast fashion, eg. rental, clothes swaps, thrifting, sharing. Celia will also be on hand to advise on basic mending skills.
creative reuse as a methodology of keeping things 'alive'. There'll be specific examples using RG materials:
renewable energy (solar)
reducing consumption of all resources at home and work (water, gas, electricity)
building resilience in the face of a changing climate and a changing world
making reusable items for the home, including mesh bags, tshirt bags, knitted/crochet dishcloths and more.
There will also be demonstrations on making beeswax wraps, hessian potscrubbers and more.
By the end of the class, you can take home valuable tips and tricks on how to become more sustainable and save your planet too!
