Experience clay as a medium for meditative practice. Focusing on touch and tactility, this workshop will encourage you to create hand-built forms inspired by the work of Sam Gold's coil and pinch-style sculptures.

Using only hands to manipulate raw clay, you will be guided through different ways to create shape, volume, space, and texture. This clay meditation is a conscious process engaging you to explore the material's potential for tactility, gesture, and intuition. Final pieces can be added to a collaborative central table or reclaimed and taken home for future clay meditations.

'I hope that people can walk away thinking about our emotional processes... and using a material as a conversation to help reflect and build upon our own experiences.' - Sam Gold

This workshop is presented alongside the MCA's summer exhibition Primavera 2021: Young Australian Artists curated by Hannah Presley.
