The annual Mil-Pra Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) exhibition and art prize celebrates the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in our region and beyond. Presented at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, the 29th Annual Mil-Pra AECG Exhibition entries are open to a variety of artworks, from painting to ceramics and sculptural pieces by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists of all ages living in both NSW and the ACT.
This year, the Mil-Pra AECG Award of $1500 will be awarded to the artist whose work best responds to the 2020 theme 'Always was, always will be'.
There will also be a new award supported by the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre: The Casula Powerhouse Aboriginal Scholarship Award. The winner will receive $1500 to develop an exhibition at Casula Powerhouse in 2021. The award is sponsored by Dharug Strategic Management Group and an anonymous sponsor.
Other major prizes include; the $2000 acquisitive Maria Lock Award, the $3000 acquisitive Liverpool City Council's Mayor's Choice Award, the $500 Bruce & Carol Kendall OAM Memorial Award, the $500 KARI Foundation Award, the $500 Kate Nicholas Liverpool Women's Services Award and the $50 Family and Early Childhood Art Award as well as awards for various student categories.
