The Sydney Contemporary Fine Arts Collective Exhibition 2025 came about as an idea by artist Emma Sputnik, to enquire of the artistic landscape of post-Covid era - who is left behind, and what are they doing? An open call was made for artists who had several factors in common - the interest and dedication to create art, a proven ability to do so, and a recently created work or works to exhibit at The Shop Gallery in June of 2025.

The exhibition has been in the making for two years and has evolved into an exciting and eclectic mix of artists, with exciting works and themes, and a range of traditional fine art mediums expertly demonstrated by the group who have worked as individuals to create the works - but unite as the forefront of contemporary fine art for this exhibition.

Ten to fifteen years ago in Sydney, there was a gallery, studio and artist scene in most suburbs with regular openings, exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, practice groups, travel groups, collectives, artist run initiatives. With many bricks and mortar venues shutting their doors over the years, The Shop Gallery remains as a fixture in Glebe where it has established a high reputation with discerning artists, yet as a combined studio and gallery - it is a down to earth and welcoming place to be, set on scenic Glebe Point Road in proximity to cafes, restaurants and the Sydney Harbour Breeze.

Saturday 7 June brings the official opening and an afternoon of artist talks, with refreshments supplied. This afternoon includes the exhibiting artists making a short speech about their works and artistic practice. All people interested in art, and the lives of artists are encouraged to come and sit in on the talks, ask questions and get to know who's who.

Other days deliver art music with two groups - Sonic Horizons and The Music Box Project performing at the exhibition. Sonic Horizons are led by classical guitar and feature a romantic, dreamy experience that will lull the audience into deep enchantment. The Music Box Project use orchestral instruments unleashed, in a textured soundscape that is super-real and amazing to watch as the artists use the space to move around and create sublime music. Numbers are limited, please ensure to register for a ticket, online.

Sydney Contemporary Fine Arts Exhibition 2025 at The Shop Gallery will run from 10am Thursday 5 June and close its doors on Wednesday 11 June. Works are for sale but there is no obligation to purchase and The Sydney Contemporary Fine Arts Collective welcomes the people of Sydney to visit the exhibition - and see what we've been up to.
