This World (Nock, Zwartz, Wilson, Stuart) is the stunning debut release from a new collaborative quartet formed by four of Australia's most established and celebrated jazz musicians.
Exceptionally recorded and produced, it features a diverse program of nine exciting new compositions created specifically for this album.
This World articulates the struggle, strength and sense of hope faced in life each day. Despite this album being the band's debut, the musicians have enjoyed established relationships with each other in a variety of formats for many years before coming together as a quartet. The shared history and personal connection between them all can be felt in every note.
'an exceptional record by an exceptional ensemble. This is profound, moving and expressive jazz of the highest level' Stuart Nicholson, Jazzwise (UK)
Mike Nock - Piano
Jonathan Zwartz - Bass
Julien Wilson - Sax
Hamish Stuart - Drums and Cymbals
The Stu Hunter Trio
Multi award-winning pianist and composer Stu Hunter's latest solo piano album 'the beautiful things' was launched at this year's Sydney Festival, and is a homage to love and family. Tonight, he presents the opening set with his new trio featuring the dynamic and irrepressible engine room of drummer Warren Trout, and bassist Noel Mason. Expect new originals and re-workings of music from some of Stu's previous suites.
'Hunter locates his music on another level entirely, revealing a unique and completely individual personality…his rhythmic ideas suggest rock influences, while his liking for Monk-like dissonance is tempered throughout by lyricism and melodic beauty' - The Australian
