TILT is the final exhibition in a two-year collaboration between artists Alex Asch and Mariana del Castillo. The Pivot Gallery allows the artists an opportunity to create an exhibition that broadens their conversation of overlapping realities.
The exhibition explores ideas around identity, memory, belonging and ownership. Through colonization, migration and displacement the two artists enter the conversation from opposite ends. Asch, the external landscape and the constructed world, del Castillo, the internal landscape and constructed psychology. These conceptual ideas run parallel to the artists' commitment to the recycled materials and found objects central to their art practice. The gleaned materials from their archive provide a starting point for the artists, influencing palette choices and contrasting compositions chosen from multiple components.
Accompanying one of Asch's tableaux is a soundscape by electronic composer DJ Olive aka Gregor Asch.
