The Center for Brooklyn History at the Brooklyn Public Library examines the history of slavery in the borough and how it shaped the Brooklyn we know. Through artwork, historical accounts and genealogical records, visitors can learn more about this difficult time in the borough's history. To buttress the relatively few firsthand accounts, the exhibition celebrates Black genealogy researchers who study and work to understand this time and how these narratives connect to the present. Related programming includes family research workshops, film screenings and panel discussions.
