In Season 11, MasterChef Australia contestant Huda Al-Sultan was loved for her passion for Middle-Eastern cooking. Now, Huda is the next culinary expert to appear in one of Drool's virtual cooking experiences this month
On Saturday, October 17, Huda will reveal how you can make the classic Middle Eastern dessert called Katayef. If you have a sweet tooth, a love of Arabic flavours and a need for a new vegan-friendly dessert recipe, then this virtual cooking class is for you.
Also known as Qatayef, these light and tasty pancake pockets are stuffed with delicious fillings including date and ricotta, almond or walnut. During her virtual class, Huda will walk you through how to make these three fillings and show you how to bake or fry them. Plus, Huda will expertly guide you through the process of preparing her scented rosewater syrup; the perfect accompaniment to this dish. Huda's walnut version of Katayef is vegan-friendly
There will be plenty of time to interact with Huda during the class, and you will receive your ingredients list and method plus Zoom details by email in advance. Bookings can be made online via the Drool website and the cost is $20 per person. All you'll need on the day is access to Zoom, comfy kitchen attire and your ingredients at the ready. Or, you can sit back and watch the experience unfold. The experience runs for one and a half hours from 4.00 pm. Spaces are limited so it's best to book early.
Huda Al-Sultan is an accredited practising Dietitian, Mindful Eating Coach and passionate foodie. Huda is originally from Saudi Arabia and now lives in Adelaide with her family. During her time on MasterChef Australia, she placed in the top 24 contestants and proudly showcased her Middle Eastern heritage through her culinary creations. Huda has continued to pursue her passion for food as a recipe developer and Co-Founder of the vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free ice creamery called Sassi Ice Cream
Huda will be partnering with Drool, a virtual cooking experience community where you can learn new cooking skills and share your creations in a friendly and fun online environment.
