Inspired by West Australian Opera's season The Nightingale, join West Australian Opera for an immersive hands-on theatrical make up workshop. West Australian Opera's professional make-up artist will demonstrate stagecraft techniques in the creation of a character and then it's over to you to experiment with products and create your own. Participants will also take home a complimentary The Nightingale activity book.
His Majesty's Theatre is a beautiful Edwardian theatre resplendent with ornate gilded foyers, a superb marble staircase and a domed auditorium seating nearly 1200 people in three tiers. Built in 1904 during the prosperity of the gold rush, it exudes opulence, optimism and a confidence in the future of the State. It is renowned as Australia's finest example of Federation Free Classical architecture with the most lavish and well-executed ornamentation. A refurbishment project completed in 2020 has reinvigorated the hospitality and other front of house spaces and ensures that His Majesty's Theatre's status as one of Western Australia's great public buildings is protected.
Explore the grand surrounds of His Majesty's Theatre on our venue tours or enjoy a range of pop up activities and entertainment including stage make up workshops, face painting, costume boxes and more. Refreshments are available in our ground floor café throughout the day.
