The process is said to be have been founded in the Middle East as a way to produce perfumes, however, it quickly spread to Europe, and then to Scotland and Ireland by travelling monks. These monks lacked the vineyards and grapes of Europe, so turned to ferment grain mash in 1000AD! This bright idea created the first distillation of modern whiskey and here at Pig 'N' Whistle West End, we believe a good whiskey is worth celebrating!
