Connected: MCA Collection 2020
Celebrating some of our most significant recent acquisitions alongside MCA Collection highlights- Connected brings together a selection of works by Australian artists that explore ways in which we might interpret and interact with the world and each other. This exhibition takes us from rural southern New South Wales to the vast Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) lands- which span the central desert region of remote north-west South Australia- over to the east Kimberly region of Western Australia- up to Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory- and across the seas to the Tiwi Islands- the Torres Strait- and beyond to Indonesia.Through a diversity of materials and approaches- the works included in this exhibition articulate a sense of deep connection - to place- people or worldviews - drawing on multiple perspectives and cultural traditions from across the country and beyond. They reveal important expressions of cultural knowledge- commentary on difficult shared histories- evocations of landscape and representations of particular ideologies. Together- they highlight social- cultural and emotional connections that influence who we are and how we may relate to the world.Curator: Manya SellersArtistsBob BurruwalRosalie GascoigneMabel JuliJumaadiNoŋgirrŋa MarawiliJack NawililAlick TipotiBede TungutalumKunmanara Williams

Elysian Fields 2020

This beautiful international project sings to the gathering of friends- food and conversation through the idiosyncratic viola de gamba. Produced by saxophonist Matt Keegan and featuring the stunning vocals and violin of Susie Bishop- 'FIKA' takes inspiration from the frozen landscapes of Scandinavia- drawing on traditional folk music and language.Susie Bishop (voice-violin) Matt Keegan (saxophones) Jenny Eriksson (electric viola da ga gamba) Matt McMahon (piano) Siebe Pogson (bass guitar) Dave Goodman (drums)Special Support: Jo TrumanJosephine Truman is an artist skirting the boundary of tradition and experimentation.
