Join us in the award-winning permaculture garden each Friday morning and learn skills under expert guidance in a friendly setting.About this EventCome garden with us on Friday mornings from 9:00am to 12:30pm and help us plant- weed- and compost. We break for morning tea together and socialise over lunch- you'll also share in the bounty of any harvest!** COVID UPDATE - Please bring own gloves- morning tea and-or lunch. All hand tools will be disinfected between use and masks will be available. **There are three areas in the award-winning Randwick Sustainability Hub to work in depending on your interests and expertise. You need to chose which garden you want to work in- but may move between gardens from week to week.Permaculture Garden and Food ForestJoining the Permaculture Garden and Food Forest is perfect for those that want expert guidance from landscape architect Steve Batley- and sustainability educator Julian Lee. Over the course of a year- you will learn about regenerative agriculture concepts and there is also the opportunity to learn specialist skills like worm farming- composting- seed saving- propagation and pruning.Community GardenJoining the Community Garden is perfect for those that want to work with a more autonomous gardening group and-or are experienced gardeners looking for a patch of dirt and to garden with others. This group focuses on growing fruit and vegetables.Native Habitat GardenJoining the Native Habitat Garden is perfect for those that want to work with a more autonomous gardening group and-or are experienced gardeners looking for a patch of dirt and to garden with others. This group focuses on maintaining native habitat- especially to protect our smaller critters.Workshop programAfter lunch from 1:30-3:30pm you can join us for our workshop series.We are currently limited to ten live participants- however if you miss out- you can still join us on zoom.Recordings of past topics can be found on Council's Youtube channel under the PermaBee playlist.

Just bring a can-do attitude and we will show you everything you need to know. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and covered sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle and hat.Next sessions:Saturday 31 October 2020- 12:30 pm - 2:00 pmSaturday 14 November 2020- 12:30 - 2:00 pmSaturday 28th November 2020- 12:30 - 2:00 pmBookings essential. No group bookings please.The session will not proceed in wet- extreme or dangerous weather.Do not attend the Sydney City Farm if you are unwellPlease do not attend if you are unwell or have any signs of cold of flu including a cough- sore-scratchy throat- runny nose- shortness of breath or a fever. If staff observe any of these symptoms you will be asked to leave. You will be required to fill in a quick online wellness check survey the day before your volunteer session or education program.When you arrive at the Sydney City FarmWhen you arrive to volunteer or attend an education session- scan the QR code at the entry and enter your name and phone number or email address. You must do this each time you attend. If you don't have a phone that can do this- ask a staff member to assist you. This is a NSW Health requirement and will be used for contact tracing purposes only if necessary.When at the Sydney City Farmnotify staff if you start to feel unwellmaintain 1.5 m physical distance from all people including staffwash or sanitise your hands on entry and regularly after thatyou are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves.
