Connect Sydney is a City of Sydney program- funded by the Department of Communities and Justice. The program aims to build the capacity of community and not for profit organisations through the provision of free skills and governance training. This training is primarily for organisations that support and provide services to children- young people- families and communities experiencing or at risk of vulnerability within the City of Sydney local government area.If you're responsible for fundraising- including grant writing in your organisation and want to improve your knowledge and skills in writing successful grant submissions or securing more funding- this is the training for you.This year- the Connect Sydney - Fundraising and grant application training will be delivered through two online sessions on Tuesday- 10 November 2020. You are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions to get the most out of it.Session One - fundraising from 10am to 12pm covers:How to plan for fundingHow to ask for money - most people that give in cash or in-kind give because they have been asked. Learn how to successfully ask for money using a range of mediumsHow to raise secure- unattached and predictable income - untied money to use for your group's own priorities and decisionsHow to rally the troops - instilling a fundraising culture in your organisationHow to get business to support your community group - the secrets to successful- and profitable- community-business partnershipsHow to ensure sponsors get what they expectSession Two - grant application writing from 1pm to 3pm focuses on:The best way to present your proposal - tell the story of your project and your group to get the greatest advantageHow to develop your statement of need - choosing data to support your project proposalHow to develop an 'organisational template' - to save time in writing applications and create a corporate memory that can be passed onHow to humanise your story - presenting a compelling pictureHow to do budgetsHow to align your programs with the funding body's strategic priority and support it with evidence- data and outcomes.The training will be delivered by Our Community.To register- please fill out this form.The City aims to deliver inclusive and accessible training sessions for all participants. Just bring a can-do attitude and we will show you everything you need to know. Please wear clothes that can get dirty and covered sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle and hat.Next sessionThursday 29 October 2020- 12:30pm - 2:00pmThursday 5th November 2020- 12:30 - 2:00 pmThursday 12th November 2020- 12:30 - 2:00 pmBookings essential. No group bookings please.The session will not proceed in wet- extreme or dangerous weather.Do not attend the Sydney City Farm if you are unwellPlease do not attend if you are unwell or have any signs of cold of flu including a cough- sore-scratchy throat- runny nose- shortness of breath or a fever. If staff observe any of these symptoms you will be asked to leave. You will be required to fill in a quick online wellness check survey the day before your volunteer session or education program.When you arrive at the Sydney City FarmWhen you arrive to volunteer or attend an education session- scan the QR code at the entry and enter your name and phone number or email address. You must do this each time you attend. If you don't have a phone that can do this- ask a staff member to assist you. This is a NSW Health requirement and will be used for contact tracing purposes only if necessary.When at the Sydney City Farmnotify staff if you start to feel unwellmaintain 1.5 m physical distance from all people including staffwash or sanitise your hands on entry and regularly after thatyou are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves. Gloves will be supplied to volunteers and education participants who do not bring their ownfollow volunteer and education participant hygiene protocols discussed at start of sessionwipe down equipment that you use or touch with the sanitising wipes supplied
