Hybrid: Objects for future homes 2020
Hybrid is an exhibition of 9 new works commissioned by the Powerhouse that interrogate the contemporary urban condition and explore the role of the home in 2030.Nine design studios have collaborated with researchers and practitioners from diverse industries to create furniture and objects exploring the rapidly changing global landscape and the most pressing issues of our time.The selected designers have responded to issues such as the global pandemic- poor air quality- bush fires- rising temperatures and wellbeing to premiere new objects ranging from a contemporary home shrine- objects to refocus and de-stress- a responsive light source that brings the experiences of nature into the home- a table from recycled plastic to artefacts developed from the objects left behind by the deceased.This is a COVID-safe event as part of Sydney Craft Week 2020.

In conjunction with the easing restrictions of the COVID-19 public health measures enforced by the NSW Government and Football NSW- Centennial Parklands Sports Centre (CPSC) are thrilled to re-instate the Friday Night 7v7 outdoor soccer competition.Competition Commence Date: Friday 25 September 2020Competition Duration: 12 WeeksWho can play?: Anyone! Returning teams- new teams and individuals looking to find a teamHow can I register? Click this link to register online NOW!Team registrationThe team captain can register on behalf of the whole team. Ensure they have all contact information ready for each team member prior to registering as part of post COVID practices (more information below).Individual RegistrationUsing the registration link above- create your profile and register as an individual. Staff at CPSC will place you in a social team. Conditions of registrationTo ensure the health- safety and wellbeing of all patrons of the centre- all players must adhere to the following requirements of the competition:All players MUST be registered in the competition. Teams and individuals will not be permitted to take the field of play unless they are registered.All players MUST sign on and list their name on the scoresheet prior the commencement of the gameMatch referees will cross-check player sign on prior to the match commencingAll teams will need to provide their own bibs and or training kitsCOVID-19 measuresSpecific COVID-19 response strategies are in place around the CPSC venues to ensure the utmost health and hygiene practices are implemented. Reimagining resilience for young people 2020
This is a fun online course that is suitable for every body. From the comfort of your home- you will be facilitated through a range of improvisation exercises designed to give your brain a work-out and build present moment awareness. You will also be guided through a combination of mindfulness practices including yoga- meditation and breathing.The idea is to give you a variety of different skills to manage stress- reduce anxiety and most importantly- have fun! Each week will have a different theme- and a variety of creative ways for you to find more ease and joy in your day to day life at home. You will be working with two facilitators- Natascha and Laura.Natascha Flowers is a qualified yoga teacher- social worker- trauma counsellor and actor. Natascha has facilitated a range of creative- movement-based and mental health groups. As a social worker and counsellor- Natascha has worked with people experiencing homelessness- refugees and asylum seekers- people with disabilities- people impacted by eating and body image concerns and survivors of child abuse and complex trauma. She teaches yoga regularly- and has completed training in teaching yoga for trauma- mental health and body image- as well as accessible- body positive yoga. Natascha offers a warm- inclusive and encouraging approach to everyone she works with. She is committed to creating a supportive and safe space in all her work.Laura Hart is a qualified mental health first aider. She has been performing for over fifteen years. She has worked creatively with not for profit organisations such as Camp Quality- The Starlight Children's Foundation- Ted Noffs and Milkcrate Theatre. Laura is a 2017 Young Social Pioneer with the Foundation for Young Australians - developing and sharing her improv comedy program for people with anxiety. Laura has trained at Improv Theatre Sydney- Impro Australia and the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York. She holds a Bachelor of Communications from Charles Sturt University with a major in Theatre and Media. Laura is particularly interested in how improvisation and mental wellbeing intersect. She sees humour as a tool to build resilience- and uses improv as a mindfulness practice. Laura is a member of the ITS faculty and ensemble- and the company's Outreach- Diversity & Inclusion Officer.This workshop is supported by the Foundation for Young Australians. Participants must be aged between 18 - 30.
