Skin Queen and Bowral-based businesswoman, Isabella Loneragan, has teamed-up with a number of businesses in the Southern Highlands region to present a special event in support of Pop In - a charity supporting women and children navigating domestic violence in the Wingecarribee Shire.
A Ladies Champagne Brunch at The Orangerie on the grounds of the spectacular Milton Park Country House Hotel and Spa from 10.30am on Sunday 12 November, the event is sure to entertain with internationally-acclaimed comedian, Jackie Loeb of 'Full Frontal' fame and countless comedy festivals, to deliver her unique style of stand-up comedy - albeit for a serious cause.
In New South Wales alone, there are approximately 2500 reports of domestic violence to the police every month - but according to a 2020 report by the NSW Council of Social Service, this likely represents only 40 per cent of actual incidents by reason of underreporting. Furthermore, data released this year by the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveals that Australian women are more than twice as likely as men to experience violence from an intimate partner or family member.
Since opening during 2021, Pop In has seen a significant rise in demand throughout the Southern Highlands. The charity supported more than 500 women and children during 2022 and 2023 and expects demand for its support services to continue in the region.
Pop In will open a new hub in Moss Vale during late-October, facilitating more space to support more women and children and for the operation of its education programmes. The new premises will allow Pop In to provide a safe, non-judgmental and welcoming space for women and children navigating family and domestic violence.
"It's high-time that more Australian businesses collaborate to support charities such as Pop In and ultimately, put a stop to violence against women and girls," said Isabella Loneragan of the hugely popular Isabella Loneragan Skin clinic, which opened last year on Linden Way in Bowral.
"I realise that this event may only represent a drop in the ocean of what's required to eradicate domestic violence but the issue is so significant that it can only be addressed by each community playing a part.
"All proceeds raised from our Ladies Champagne Brunch will be donated to Pop In - a charity of immense importance to the Southern Highlands because it offers a safe and welcoming place in support of women and children navigating domestic violence.
"I feel obligated yet privileged to be in a position to help such a worthwhile cause as Pop In, and I truly hope the ladies of our local community get behind this fundraiser by purchasing a ticket to attend. I am so hopeful for a sell-out in full support of the invaluable work of Pop In," added Ms Loneragan.
At a cost of $164.50 per person, a ticket to the event includes brunch and champagne, entertainment headlined by Jackie Loeb and a raffle entry to win one of myriad prizes donated by businesses of the Southern Highlands region.
