December Christmas Clubhouse Event: 'Town & Country' Dinner Series No. 4 - A Festive Feast with Goose Making a Triumphant Debut at Beckett's
For the final Clubhouse event of the year, Beckett's will be celebrating a festive-favourite from yester-year, goose! This prized game bird, once used for the greatest of celebrations and written about in many a classic tale is debuting at Beckett's for a moment in the spotlight, along with a few other Yule-time surprises.
Chef Jeff Schroeter will bring all the decadent festive-feels as he puts his skills to the test with this elaborate luxe bird, serving up a magnificent 4-course menu with matching wine (non-alcoholic available) in a modern twist on the grand dinners of the late 18th Century.
Farmers and co-host for the evening, U Goose owners, Lucy and Herb Mackenzie, will share with guests their passion for their free-range farm and the geese that call it home.
And as an added treat, playwright-director and co-owner Wendy Beckett has asked three well-known actors - Sandie Eldridge, Patrick Dickson and Maeliosa Stafford - to bring to life a 25-minute 'collage' of Dickens' A Christmas Carol classic, concentrating on 'the goose', delicacies at Christmas, as well as the three Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future to haunt the literary dinner table in Beckett's downstairs cellar.
Join us as Jeff creates magic on the plate with his four-course Christmas degustation. He's planning to revive long lost culinary traditions for this 'one-night-only' jolly feast with cherry soup and lobster mousse made in antique lobster-shaped moulds. The star of the show will be the award-winning, free-range Emden x Toulouse goose from U Goose, an exceptional game bird with spectacular flavours, and prized 'liquid gold' goose fat.
Tickets include four delectable courses with matched wines (non-alcoholic optional) and are $175 pp for Clubhouse members ($195 pp for non-members).
