City of Sydney is offering free training and development opportunities for staff, volunteers and committee/board members of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations that operate in or service the local area.
This training is suitable for not-for-profit, charitable organisations, social enterprises, and co-operatives.
We have partnered with Burbangana Group, an expert First Nations-led consultancy and training organisation, to deliver culturally safe and interactive learning workshops.
Workshops topics and dates:
1. Governance workshop Tuesday 23 May 9:30am - 2:30pm
By the end of the session, you will boost your knowledge about improving the efficiency and productivity of your organisation. The workshop covers:
First Nations governance
Legal requirements
Benefits of good governance structure
2. Grant writing and fundraising workshop Thursday 8 June 9am - 5pm
By the end of the day, you will learn how to improve your skills in writing successful grant submissions and securing more funding.
Grant writing session covers:
The best way to present your proposal
How to do budgets
How to align your programs with the funding body's strategic priority and support it with evidence, data, and outcomes
Fundraising session covers:
Resourcing and developing a fundraising strategy
In-person events and online fundraising
Successfully ask for cash or in-kind support using a range of mediums
3. Board development workshop Tuesday 13 June 9:30am - 2:30pm
By the end of the session, you will enhance your experience in making good decisions for your organisation. The workshop covers:
Board member duties and responsibilities
Meeting efficiency
Leadership and organisational culture
The training workshops will be hybrid events, combining a virtual meeting via the Zoom platform with participants joining using their own device or by using facilities made available at Redfern Community Centre 29-53 Hugo St, Redfern.
Registration is essential for each workshop. Spaces are limited. You can register for one or more of the workshops by clicking on the title of each workshop.
