We're running another Twitter watch party!
Before you see Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reunite in 'Bill & Ted Face the Music' (2020), join pop-culture critic Maria Lewis as we rewatch the original.
UCLA classmates Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson created the characters Bill and Ted in an improv workshop in 1983. The rest is history, dudes.
The film's sci-fi/comedy premise is that unless Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) pass their final history exam, they'll be forced to break up their band Wyld Stallyns. Insert a time machine and we're cooking with gas.
Slated for a straight to video release, the film got a serious cash injection at the final hour and made its way onto the big screen.
Directed by Stephen Herek, who went on to make iconic early 90s teens movies 'Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead' and 'The Mighty Ducks', 'Bill & Ted Excellent Adventure' (1989) is now, ironically, a time capsule of late 80s awesomeness.
Winter and Reeves reprise their roles for a soothing trip down nostalgia lane in 'Bill & Ted Face the Musi'c, scheduled to hit Australian cinemas (outside Victoria) September 10.
