Untitled (A Creative Retreat) invites visitors to discover a hidden gem beneath a grand staircase. In this intimate nook, Anastasia Parmson's signature monochromatic palette draws the eye.
Meticulously crafted line drawing proliferates across objects in the nook: an armchair under soft light lamp light, a small side table stands ready to hold a sketchbook, or a well-loved novel, a cosy rug frames the space. Untitled (A Creative Retreat) is an invitation to pause, reflect, and allow creativity to flow.
you're okay gallery by Brand X is the City of Sydney Creative Studio's art activation space. Located on the studio's street floor, the gallery brings contemporary and experimental digital, performance and installation art directly to the busy footpath of Bathurst Street and the daily city commuters.
About the artist:
Anastasia Parmson is an award winning artist born in Estonia. She has Siberian roots, a French education and is currently living and working in Sydney, Australia. Anastasia received a Master's in Visual Arts from Strasbourg University in 2009 and then embarked on multiple life-changing adventures on sea, land and in-between.
Traveling a lot and living in several countries around the world has meant that she is constantly searching for belonging in unfamiliar places, while inevitably remaining an outsider. Drawing has been her way to create pockets of intimacy and to trace her place in the world.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at National Art School and MAY SPACE Gallery in Australia, Megan Dickinson Gallery in New Zealand, Tallinn Light Biennale in Estonia, Apollonia Art Exchanges in France, her work has featured in publications such as Articulate Magazine, Create! Magazine and Colossal.
In 2021 she received a Create NSW Arts and Cultural Funding Grant toward creating her biggest immersive installation work yet, which was first exhibited at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.
Anastasia is currently working on several new projects from her City of Sydney Creative Studios workspace.
