Brisbane City Council is committed to keeping Brisbane clean, green and sustainable, and values your help in protecting more than 2500 plant and animal species that make Brisbane the most biodiverse capital city in Australia.

The Brisbane Biodiversity Seminars present guest speakers on the city's unique plant and animal species and other environmental topics. Join us in-person or online to learn about recent research and ongoing efforts to conserve Australia's most iconic marsupial.

Guest speakers:

  • Matthew Harding - is the Program Coordinator for Koala Operations, within the Wildlife and Threatened Species team, Department of Environment and Science. Matthew will provide the audience with an update on recent koala research, steps the Qld State Government are taking to conserve koalas, and finally, actions that the public can take to help koala conservation. 
  • Dr Erin Hurley - is a Project Officer at Social Marketing @ Griffith. Erin will be presenting on the South East Queensland Cross Coordination Koala Conservation project. This project aims to partner with local governments across South East Queensland to co-design and implement koala awareness campaigns and threat mitigation initiatives to support koala conservation. Erin will discuss project activities and outcomes achieved to date as well as planned activities for year 2 of the project.
  • Susan Dymock - leads the Biodiversity and Conservation Planning team in Brisbane City Council. She has over 15 years' experience in biodiversity conservation and environmental planning, including the delivery of key Brisbane City Council conservation projects such as the Bushland Acquisition Program. Susan will discuss the steps that Brisbane City Council is taking to conserve koalas in this region.
