Cantonese language tour of Passage of Night; Luminary Rising 2024

Passage of Night; Luminary Rising is an exhibition co-curated by Cassandra Hard Lawrie and Rachael Kiang. It examines the significance of the moon and how it is reflected across cultures.

Pamela Leung is one of the artists from the exhibition and she will provide insight into the exhibition theme and the various perspectives offered by each artist. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask Pamela questions about the exhibition.

About Pamela Leung

Pamela Leung is an artist based in Sydney, born in Hong Kong, with a Master of Fine Art from the National Art School. In 2018, Leung was honoured with the Emerging Artist Prize at The 65th Blake Prize.

Leung's diverse artistic practice encompasses video, sound, painting, sculpture, installation, and performance, drawing deeply from both her personal experiences and academic background. Her work challenges cultural narratives, particularly in the realms of identity, immigration, and cultural hybridity. One of the standout elements in her art is her use of the colour red as a symbol of different perspectives and a unifying force, encouraging viewers to transcend cultural differences and embrace our shared humanity.

This event is part of the Council curated exhibition Passage of Night; Luminary Rising. This event is part of Chatswood Year of the Dragon Festival, the North Shore's premier Lunar New Year celebrations presented by Willoughby City Council.
