Chatswood Year of the Tiger Festival brings a brand-new celebration of contemporary culture, diversity, cutting edge music and good spirits to the North Shore. Featuring some of the best Asian-Australian pop, RnB and electronic artists you should be listening to right now.
This event is part of Chatswood Culture Bites 2022, Willoughby City Council's innovative program of music, theatre, comedy and more in Chatswood CBD.
Don't miss your opportunity to grab a seat at the bar by Archie Rose.
Saturday evening's program features Colin Ho, AnSo and Red Rey.
4pm Colin Ho
6pm AnSo
As a self-described sculptor of sound existing and creating on Gadigal land, South Korean artist, AnSo's works are ever-evolving, like a blob of clay on a throwing wheel, the hands of the sculptor, feeling, moulding, collapsing, rising. 'Come Find Me', out Friday 26th November, will be their third release after their previous hyper-pop coming-out single 'So Damn Loud'. The new single captures a darker side of AnSo, diving into harsh realities and painful experiences growing up as an inevitably naive female in an unforgiving world. AnSo's music is raw and confronting, the back-and-forth weave of Korean and English lyrics representing the way their thoughts sound in their head. AnSo's uniqueness of sound comes from their love of field recordings and collecting found sounds, manipulating, distorting, and sculpting sounds to how they see fit, creating a world of experimental pop that is entirely AnSo's to explore and share.
8pm Red Rey
RED REY is a DJ, performance artist and event producer. They identify as genderqueer and of Flipinx background. They are known for transcendent costumes, infectious dancing, and mixing queer music, pop edits, techno, club and world sounds. Red Rey has recently performed across Australia with Club Mince, BARBA and Heaps Gay. They are also a co-producer at Worship Queer Collective alongisde Dyan Tai, which creates community events celebrating Sydney's unique identity through performance art, drag and dance.
