Would you like to learn how to use machine embroidery to depict faces? In this workshop, Cheryl will teach you to develop your skills and confidence in creating machine embroidered faces. She will teach a number of techniques that you can employ including thread painting, using colour and tone to create a sense of three-dimensional form, how to stitch hair, and eyes and mouths. Many stitchers find eyes and mouths particularly difficult, but Cheryl will show you how to create a natural and three-dimensional look without over stitching. Along the way, she will share various tips and tricks for creating machine embroideries, avoiding problems such as wrinkles and distortions of the fabric, and how to finish them for display.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with prior experience of machine embroidery.
About the tutor
Cheryl Bridgart is a highly-accomplished, South Australian textile artist who specialises in machine embroidery, creating colourful works which she draws with her sewing machine, directly onto the fabric. Her artworks feature people, birds, animals and landscapes in compositions inspired by dreams and by life experiences. Her works is held in numerous collections and she has traveled in Australia, New Zealand Asia exhibiting her work and demonstrating her skills in machine embroidery.
