The Australian Government will invest $7 billion over the next decade to develop Australia's space capabilities as part of the 2020 Defence Strategic Update. Equally, Australia's participation in initiatives such as NASA's Moon to Mars will further boost the industry and increase our local capacity.
New technology will be developed, jobs will be created, skills will be developed and many more opportunities will arise. But how do we ensure that our local space ecosystem as well as public and private R&D organisations can unlock the potential of this burgeoning industry? How do we ensure the tech, talent, and innovations created build competitive advantages and enhance national capabilities? And how do we deploy these solutions to solve the pressing problems facing humankind?
To achieve the full potential of Australia's emerging space industry we must build an ecosystem. A broad reaching coalition, connecting industry with research and the startup community to build complex high-value supply chains that benefit all.
For our next Cicada Buzz, Sally-Ann will be joined by leaders from the space industry; Tim Parsons, Martin Duursma, Donna Lawler and James Brown, who will discuss their vision for Australia's space future.
