Over 3 sessions, participants will learn and adapt a collaborative choreography led by renowned dance artist Angela Goh and the brilliant young students of Seet Dance.
The workshops are hosted by Deborah Kelly and will culminate in a major public performance at the MCA on Sunday 20 June at 5pm, celebrating the solstice. We ask that all workshop participants commit to attending all three sessions, including 2-6pm on the 20 June which will include the public performance.
This is a rare opportunity to perform as part of a significant public artwork on the MCA Forecourt.
About the workshop
Skill level: All ages are welcome. No previous dance experience necessary.

About CREATION
CREATION is a queer, science fiction, climate-change religion. Surviving fires, floods, fevers, and leadership failure, artists and communities are building this new belief system together. Created by Australian artist Deborah Kelly in collaboration with a host of artists, musicians, poets and friends, an iteration of the project is currently presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) as part of The National 2021: New Australian Art exhibition.
About the artist
Deborah Kelly is a Melbourne-born, Sydney-based artist of mixed settler ancestry. Her works have been shown around Australia and elsewhere. For a decade, she has been working with groups of strangers in cities worldwide to make experiential collaborations emphasising process, community and aesthetic intensity. Kelly's works are concerned with lineages of representation, politics and history in public exchange, and practices of collectivity, both epic and intimate. Collections: AGNSW, QAGOMA, MCA, State Library Victoria, Queer Archives Australia, The Center for the Study of Political Graphics LA, and the Wellcome Collection, London.
About Angela Goh
Angela Goh is a dancer and choreographer who lives and works in Sydney. Her work has toured across Australia and to Europe, the UK, the USA and Asia. Her work poses possibilities for disruption and transformation inside the aesthetics and conditions of technocapitalism, planetarity, and the post-Anthropocene. She has won the Keir Choreographic Award 2020; FBi Sydney Music Arts and Culture Best Artist Award 2017; and received the inaugural Sydney Dance Company x Create NSW Fellowship 2020/21.
About SEET Dance
Charemaine Seet founded Seet Dance when she returned to Sydney from New York. SEET Dance is a contemporary dance school that, in the words of Ausdance NSW, has become the 'foremost place in Sydney where dance is taught as a contemporary art form'. 'As a choreographer and former principal dancer in leading dance companies in London and New York, I had a vision to offer children the same artistic stimulus I encountered working with pioneering dance makers. I was taking a wild leap but I believe the experiment is succeeding and my students are taking flight.'
