Across 2 Saturdays (April 22nd and 29th)
In this 2-part workshop, you will make a crocheted beret or beanie from yarn scraps with the option to embellish it with beads if you want.
These hats are easy to make, fun and sustainable, using all those leftover bits of yarn from other projects.
You can bring your own yarn and beads and/or use what we provide.
You will get a pattern and learn about how to structure your hat, choose and mix textures and colours to make your own unique creation that fits and looks great and you will be making use of fabric scraps that otherwise would have gone to landfill.
You will learn how to structure your hat as a beanie or beret, how to choose and mix textures and colours to get different effects, how to make the hat fit and have fun with embellishments.
About Your Teacher:
My best friend taught me to crochet when I was ten. For me it is a mediation and relaxation and a way to harness my creativity. I like create as I go, making freeform garments and accessories and whatever the yarn inspires. I largely use unwanted yarn from op shops, and Achieve Australia's Sewing Basket, and of course Reverse Garbage, mixing and matching colours and textures to create my own crochet style. I'm now developing my own designs into patterns and have collaborated with Romance Was Born, Rutt Australia, Moore Design Collective and Great Southern Yarn (producers of sustainable and ethical Australian merino yarn). I'm also starting to share my creative approach with others through my workshops. - Jenny
