From 14 to 28 January, visitors to Anzac Square Memorial Galleries can see the colourful Venetian glass mosaic created by late Brisbane artist, Don Ross.
This powerful tribute to the men and women who served in World War II is only revealed once per year (to coincide with the artist's birthday) and features an astounding 140,000 hand-cut Venetian glass enamel tiles mixed with soil from the graves of fallen soldiers.
Anzac Square Memorial Galleries is open Sunday to Friday, 10am-4pm, and entry is free. For more information, visit the Anzac Square website.
You can also delve deeper into the life and influences of this remarkable artist with State Library of Queensland Librarian Jennifer Freeman, presenting a free talk on Don Ross: mosaic artist and Renaissance man on Sunday 16 January 2022 at 10.30am. Seating is limited, register here.
