Experiment with layering, drawing, scraping, carving and embedding exercises.
This 2-day workshop is great for beginners and intermediate students who wish to learn and/or refresh on the different applications of this painting technique.
The class entails an introduction to the materials, tools and safety, and includes a practical introduction to several techniques and applications. Students will learn how to prepare the encaustic medium from scratch, learn the history of encaustic painting. We will be layering paint, scraping, carving, embedding, drawing, monoprints, and the basics of image transfer exercises.
Encaustic painting is one of the oldest painting techniques and this 2-day course brings a contemporary perspective as you discover the materiality of this process-based art technique. Students can expect to create 4 to 5 well-developed studies on 20 x 20 cms wood boards.
For beginners and students who want a refresh on the technique.
The course includes $50 of materials - All materials included but will send you a listing of things students may bring for their own use.
