Mother-and-daughter artistic duo Jorji Gardener and Viv Szekeres have brought new life to the historic ornithology collection of Captain Samuel James White with FREE exhibition Flight: An Illustrated Study of Bird Life and Loss.
White (1870-1954) carefully documented the birdlife of a once-rich ecosystem of wetlands and woodlands across the Adelaide region that has since been transformed by decades of urban expansion. Gardener and Szekeres drew inspiration from the thousands of specimens White collected to create a new body of work reflecting on nature, place, and time.
