Front and Centre: Femininity is Their is a poetry celebration of the traditional behaviours associated with femininity that includes; affection, beauty, empathy, gentleness, intuition, nurturance, patience, radiance and sensuality.

YCK Laneways presents Front and Centre, a month long festival that showcases female and non-binary talent in arts and culture in the inner city nightlife hub bound between York, Clarence and Kent streets.

Front and Centre is funded by the NSW Government's Revitalisation Program and proudly supported by Bacardi-Martini and Time Out. For the full program visit Live at YCK.

Feature poets:

Fayroze Lutta is a writer, her creative expression take many forms as a zine maker, designer, artist and urban planner. Her writing describes the socio spatial politics, displacement and psycho-spatial politics she witnesses in Sydney. The serious issues and qualities and her experience of living in the ever invaded city of Sydney. Writing about architecture, alienation, anomie and love in Sydney.

Daiane Moret is a Brazilian born poet, performer and interdisciplinary artist. With a background in psychology and acting she reveals her internal world, desires and traumas through her words. She writes and performs with the jazz band Ally as well as a solo poet and performance artist with the Tabula Rasa collective. Her poetry has been published in Cordite, Belonging Mag, The Alphabet of Women Anthology and Epistolária, an anthology to be released in Brazil and Portugal. Dai, together with her team, won Bankstown Grand Slam in 2018. She has performed at Sydney Writers Festival, Vivid, Melbourne Spoken Word Festival, Story Fest, Poetica, International Women's Jazz Festival, Devonport Jazz Festival, Poetic city, Erotica Film Festival, Mother Tongue, Enough Said.

Daiane will be performing with Sydney based musician Craig Pendergast, an accomplished soul, jazz, blues and RnB performer.

Lindsay Tuggle is the author of The Afterlives of Specimens (_2017), which was glowingly reviewed as a cover feature in The New York Review of Books. Her debut poetry collection, Calenture (2018), was one of The Australian's Books of the Year (2018), shortlisted for the Association for the Study of Australian Literature's Mary Gilmore Award and Australian Poetry's Anne Elder Award. Lindsay won the prestigious Kluge Fellowship at the Library of Congress, and was the first writer to be awarded three research Grants from the Mütter Museum of Phildelphia. Her work was generously supported by a Travelling Fellowship from the Australian Academy of the Humanities. Most recently, Lindsay was awarded the Denis Diderot Grant as a Writer-in-Residence at Château d'Orquevaux in Champagne. Lindsay is currently writing a collection of poems and lyric essays, The Autopsy Elegies, and a work of auto/ generational fiction, The Whisper Sisters. Merging poetry, cultural history and memoir, The Autopsy Elegies unsettles medical legacies of power and consent, violence and embodiment. A limited edition chapbook is forthcoming with Life Before Man Poetry (Gazebo Books). Kinship Studies is both a precursor and a premonition, offering readers a glimpse of key poems from The Autopsy Elegies.
