Gathering presents Bingkin Ngugi.
Bingkin Ngugi (Dean Tyson) is a story holder, a Mundu (didgeridoo) Musician/song man and celebrated Goori Artist. Matrilineal blood to country; Meerooni clan of the Gurang nation. From Baffle Creek in the south to the foothills along ManyPeaks Range, north to Boyne River, back along the coast to Baffle creek. Patrilineal blood to country; Ngugi and Goenpul clans of Quandamooka, Moreton Island. Gorenpul, North Stradbroke Island, Southern Moreton Bay Islands and some parts of mainland (Redlands).
Bingkin tells of Goori Education from traditional dreaming stories and the Lore. Bingkin also demonstrates cultural artefacts and other tools and weaponry. Bingkin Ngugi shares knowledge of the goori way of life & goori way of thinking, always was and always will be Goori Land.
Join Brisbane artist, curator and Goori Cultural Practitoner, Bingkin Ngugi for a conversation on culture and artefacts at the main stage of Queen Street Mall between 12 noon and 1pm.
