With The Rocks fast becoming Sydney's hottest foodie precinct (hello award-winning Le Foote and Maybe Sammy), this spectacular heritage precinct is set to welcome a new alfresco dining destination, just in time for summer with George Street Food Gallery.
The outdoor seating area opposite the MCA will transform into a brand-new eating space. Sydneysiders and visitors will be treated to Ho Jiak, the best in Malaysian street food, Love Child, a spin on Thai and 'Austral-asian' and Los Fridos, an authentic Mexican trader. These casual eateries (popping up for a short time and a good time) are the perfect option for those looking to grab a delicious lunch, quick bite after work with mates, or to soak up a few summer cocktails from one of the local bars nestled amongst The Rocks laneways.
Cult favourite and hatted restaurant Ho Jiak will be bringing their home-style Malaysian street food, offering a bold take on Malaysian classics. Inspired by Head Chef Junda Khoo's cherished memories of cooking alongside his amah in the family kitchen, every bite tells a story of tradition and will transport you straight to the hawker stalls. Menu highlights include their satay chicken spring rolls, their signature spicy seafood laksa and the crowd favourite of smoky char koay teow with locally sourced seafood.
Introducing Sydneysiders to authentic Mexican cuisine and its lesser-known delights is Los Fridos, curated by premium Mexican food purveyor, Diego Luna. Los Fridos will serve dishes including chilaquiles (fried corn tortilla pieces covered with salsa, cheese and coriander), flautas (crispy tacos filled with meat or chicken served with salsa and salad), and tamales, a traditional dish of masa (corn dough) filled with meat or vegetables then wrapped in plantain leaves. And don't miss their truly authentic Mexican cacao…on The Rocks!
Rounding out the trio is another new business: Love Child (a new venture from Chat Thai's Palisa Anderson and the team behind Sydney institution, Chat Thai). Expect a vibrant and innovative fusion of Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean cuisines. In a first-of-its-kind, the pop-up kitchen will come alive with the sizzle of induction woks for an exciting spectacle! Expect menu highlights like satay pork skewers, cold noodle salads, coconut chicken rice, or a Pioik brioche roll or cold noodle bowl with prawn cake, chicken satay, or beef betel leaf kofta. There'll be fresh fruit slushies, too.
