For the first time since the pandemic, Googong's annual Rural Fire Service Open Day is back, bringing fun-filled entertainment and offering fire safety education for the whole family.
The free event is an opportunity to celebrate the local heroes who volunteer their time with the Jerrabomberra Creek Rural Fire Brigade, all while raising vital awareness about the importance of disaster preparedness.
Children can get a taste of what it's like to be a firefighter with the chance to try on the official uniform for size, climb the big red fire trucks, and even use the hoses under the watchful eye of the local brigade.
The Rural Fire Service Open Day will be held at Googong's Bunyip Park for the first time, where event goers can bring a picnic and enjoy live music, community stalls, sausage sizzles, sweet treats and a range of free family activities.
