It's dangerous being popular. This 1988 black comedy redefines the age-old dilemma of ascending to the top of the schoolyard pecking order. Heather Chandler, Heather Duke, and Heather McNamara are the Heathers, but it's Veronica (Winona Ryder), with a little help from her friend J.D. (Christian Slater), who could make this competition lethal.

'Still deliciously dark and, for the most part, courageous. The hair and clothes may have dated, but this satire still has bite.' - Empire

This film is part of National Film and Sound Archive of Australia's Back To School series.
