Learn to grow tasty herbs at home from seeds, cuttings and division. It's easy, fun and economical to create your own new plants. Come and enjoy an overview of plant propagation, where you get to try out the techniques you will use at home. Learn from an experienced facilitator in this hands-on session.
What you will learn:
The basic theory of three types of propagation: cuttings, seed and division
Practical skills in the three types which you will practice in the session
Herbs suitable for planting this season
What you will get:
Hands-on opportunity to learn gardening skills
Small group size and experienced facilitator
Take-home notes
Six propagated herbs to take home
There are two sessions available
Presented by Jen Beer, our Sydney City Farm Learning Facilitator. Jen is an experienced environmental educator who loves growing fresh food. Her verge garden supplies her neighbourhood with herbs and edible flowers.
Do not attend Sydney City Farm events if you are unwell
Please do not attend if you are unwell or have any signs of cold or flu including a cough, sore/scratchy throat, runny nose, shortness of breath or a fever. We respectfully advise that you will not be permitted to enter. You will be required to fill in a quick online wellness check survey the day before your education program.
When you arrive at Sydney City Farm
When you arrive to attend an education session, scan the QR code at the entry and enter your name and phone number or email address. You must do this each time you attend. If you don't have a phone that can do this, ask a staff member to assist you. This is a NSW Health requirement and will be used for contact tracing purposes only if necessary.
When at the Sydney City Farm event
notify staff if you start to feel unwell
maintain 1.5 m physical distance from all people including staff
wash or sanitise your hands on entry and regularly after that
you are welcome to bring your own gardening gloves. Gloves will be supplied to volunteers and education participants who do not bring their own
follow volunteer and education participant hygiene protocols discussed at start of session
wipe down equipment that you use or touch with the sanitising wipes supplied
