Join us at Darling Quarter for an unmissable display of all-female, all Indigenous artworks that will kick of NAIDOC Week 2020
Featuring the work of 8 contemporary Indigenous female artists from across Australia - Noni Cragg, Elizabeth Close, Jody Haines, Molly Hunt, Nici Cumpston, Kate Constantine, Bronwyn Bancroft, and Amala Groom - HERE I AM: Art by Great Women will be on show from 8 November until 30 January 2021.
The art will showcase and celebrate their incredible talent through multidisciplinary mediums including photography, illustration, and painting, and covering a diversity of styles such as street art, contemporary and traditional.
This striking large-scale installation comprises four exhibition cubes, with a total of 16 artworks - two for each featured artist - on display at Darling Quarter's outdoor public art space, OPEN, which is accessible free of charge to the general public 24 hours, 7 days a week.
The NAIDOC 2020 theme - Always Was, Always Will Be - recognises that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia's first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists.
HERE I AM: Art by Great Women is presented by Darling Quarter and curated and produced by aMBUSH Gallery, and is part of an overarching national art project connected to the National Gallery of Australia's upcoming blockbuster Know My Name and aMBUSH Gallery's HERE I AM: Art by Great Women exhibitions and events, being held in both Sydney and Canberra over the summer of 2020/21.
