Come see Sydney's best improv teachers and players strut their stuff in our ITS Ensemble Shows. Anything could happen as our favourite funny people are let loose on the ITS stage. It's gonna be a wild ride!
The Harold, Friday 25 February
Performed by: Cale Bain, Bridie Connell, Clare Cavanagh and Steve Kimmens.
A structured improvised format conceived by acclaimed American improviser and teacher Del Close and his ensemble, combining group mind, character and scene work. It forms the basic international language of long form and is the entry point into figuring out what works about playing themes, challenging theatrical and comedy convention, really focusing group mind in an ensemble performance. It's jazz, an exploration of ideas.
La Ronde, Friday 11 March
A character-based improv format named after a play by Arthur Schnitzler, in which one character enters the scene and beds another. That character moves on and beds another, and so on, until the final character beds the first character from the first scene. The improv version isn't as racey, but with our Faculty at the wheel, it's sure to be entertaining!
Monoscene, Friday 25 March
A long-form improv format that takes place in a single location in a single span of time, with no external edits of any kind. It is frequently referred to as an improvised one act play.
