This exhibition brings together the work of emerging glass artists Eliana Della Flora, Bryan May and Katherine Shierlaw in exploration of the internal, or that which is not immediately seen. The artists harness the unique properties of glass to evoke wonder and emotion exploring themes within the self, physical matter, and the hidden layers of reality.
Bryan works are autobiographical, abstract and conceptual, evoking notions of Absence and Presence. Current works, rooted in the concept of Biophilic Brutalism, explore diverse ways of incorporating the materiality of glass into various media.
Eliana explores the relationship between humans and the material world, considering information embodied within physical matter, and how it is reduced and categorised in the search for meaning. Molten interactions are frozen in time, and dissected for inspection, as if to uncover an essence that remains just beyond reach.
Katherine explores the complex languages of place, connection, culture, time and space. Utilising the amorphous nature of glass, she captures the elusive, yet tangible energy shared between individuals and the places they occupy.
