Effortlessly blending the sounds of soul, R&B and pop, Kee'ahn's lush woven melodies with their four-piece band will fill Hawthorn Arts Centre with reminiscence of heartbreak and healing.
Rich vocals and hopeful yet vulnerable lyrics champion finding strength in our struggles, encouraging us all to reflect, reinvent, and rejoice in our own journeys. Kee'ahn honours their name and Ancestors through their soulful music.
Garnering critical acclaim since their 2020 debut single “Better Things”, Kee'ahn followed it up with the brilliant “Sunsets” and then their collaboration with Emma Donovan “Take No More”.
Kee'ahn is a proud Yalanji, Jirrbal, Badu islander artist who in 2019 ventured from their home town in North Queensland, to pursue a dream in the Eastern Kulin Nation (Melbourne, Australia). Their name comes from the Wik word meaning to dance, and to play.
Kee'ahn has an impressive number of performance credits including Womadelaide, Blues on Broadbeach, Blues Festival Melbourne, Wildlands, Beyond the Valley, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Pitch Music Festival, Strawberry Fields, Yirramboi First Nations Festival and more.
The soul dynamo has supported Hiatus Kaiyote, Moonchild, Emma Donovan and the Putbacks, Julia Jacklin, Paul Kelly + Paul Grabowsky, Stella Donnelly and Coloured Stone.
The Hawthorn Arts Centre performance will be an elegant experience of soul with allocated seating at cabaret tables. The Arts Bar opens at 7pm.
