A real-time collaboration with the Netherlands, Layer tells the story of three women, each alone and isolated with multiple cultural identities. They encounter multiple layers of themselves in real, virtual, fragmented and augmented realities. Layer explores notions of self-identity, as well as the pleasures and fears we stumble upon within our socially distanced COVID selves.
About the artist
Stalker is one of Australia's leading physical theatre companies, celebrating over two decades of outstanding achievement in the production of innovative, inter-disciplinary, physical and visual theatre. Box of Birds (Stalkers digital production wing) crafts the interface between live theatre (both indoors and outdoors site specific), installations and interactive technology. Their works have toured globally and have been seen by hundreds of thousands of people, from Bogota, to Seoul, from Poland to Sydney.
Produced by Stalker / Box of Birds. Performed by Cloe Fournier, Katina Olsen, Olympia Kotopoulos (Netherlands). Directed by David Clarkson and Veerle Van Overloop (Netherlands). Digital Artists Andrew Bluff, Matt Hughes and Boris Bagattini. Composer Peter Kennard. Supported by City of Sydney, The Australia Council for the Arts, Epic Games and Create NSW.
