In-between enjoying a delicious Thai feast, Annie Smithers and Christine Manfield will be in conversation about Annie's new book Recipe for a Kinder Life .
The Bookshop Darlinghurst is delighted to partner with ACON and return to the chic and spacious restaurant - Soi 25 - for this new literary dinner. This event has also been made possible due to the support of the City of Sydney Night Time Diversification Program and Thames & Hudson Australia.

Annie Smithers
Annie Smithers is one of Australia's most highly regarded chefs and one of the first chefs to truly epitomise the paddock to plate ethos. With a career spanning well over 30 years, Annie has spent the last quarter of a century in the wonderful Macedon Ranges and Hepburn Spa region of Victoria. Her restaurant du Fermier in the small village of Trentham, is a tiny establishment. Annie does all the cooking, starting with baking her own baguettes each morning and offers a menu du jour that features vegetables picked that day from her kitchen garden and meats and poultry from the surrounding area. She carefully sources all products to ensure their environmental and animal husbandry credentials. Annie lives on a small farm in Lyonville - Babbington Park - only ten minutes from Trentham, where her kitchen garden and orchard are planted and producing a bounty of produce for the restaurant. Annie has published two cookbooks and is a regular contributor to The Saturday Paper and Radio National.
Christine Manfield
Christine is one of Australia's most celebrated chefs - a curious cook and a perfectionist inspired by the culinary melting pot of global flavours. As an award-winning author, her books - A Personal Guide to India & Bhutan, Dessert Divas, Tasting India, Fire, Spice, Stir, Paramount Cooking and Paramount Desserts have spiced up the lives of keen cooks everywhere. She regularly contributes food and travel features to magazines. As one of Australia's leading culinary ambassadors, her professional culinary life as restaurateur culminated in three ground breaking, highly acclaimed restaurants: Paramount in Sydney 1993 to 2000, East@West in London 2003 to 2005 and Universal 2007 to 2013. An inveterate traveller, Christine has hosted bespoke gastronomic tours over the past twenty years to exotic destinations including India, Africa, Bhutan, France, SE Asia, Italy and South America. Since relocating to the Tweed Coast in northern NSW in early 2020, she has recalibrated her working platform to invest in celebrating regionality through meaningful, sustainable tourism.
