Come and create a gorgeous hand-marbled ceramics set at Makerspace & Co. During the workshop, you'll learn how to create a beautiful marbling effect using a range of clay bodies.
During the first session, you will learn how to marble the clay. Once your clay has been marbled, you'll then learn a number of hand-building techniques (Coiling, Pinching, and Slab-Building), allowing you to turn your marbled clay into a number of ceramic pieces: such as mugs, bowls, platters, plates, sculptures and more.
During the second session, you will learn how to trim your pieces to reveal the marbled magic! Trimming the pieces creates sharper patterns and allows the design to be adjusted before the pieces go into the kiln! Students may also have the option to add accents of colour to their pieces at this stage.
This is a fun, experimental and therapeutic process that yields beautiful results - even if you've never worked with clay before! Classes are kept small so each participant will get one on one time. Pieces from the course will be clear glazed and fired for students to pick up.
This course is suitable for absolute beginners or those with some experience! All are welcome, just bring yourself and your creativity.
