Do you want to be a hero? Do you think you have what it takes? September is the NF Hero Challenge for the Children's Tumour Foundation of Australia. Sign-up for free, take on a challenge and be a hero for someone with Neurofibromatosis (NF).
Shave or dye your hair, give up something you love for 30 days (dare we say chocolate or even coffee?) or set yourself a physical challenge like 10,000 steps every day during September.
NF is the most common neurological genetic condition and it causes tumours to grow on any nerve within the body. On average, a child is born with NF every 3 days in Australia. Symptoms can vary from person to person, depending on where the tumours form and how big they grow. It can also be hard to diagnose as it first appears usually as six or more harmless-looking birthmarks. It also progresses differently for every person as they age and there is no cure.
Other common symptoms include loss of sight or hearing, autism, ADHD and other learning difficulties, chronic pain, bone abnormalities, tumours on the brain and spine, scoliosis and visible lumps and bumps that get worse with age and cause low self-esteem, anxiety and depression.
Register now for FREE and show your strength, your resilience and your compassion for the NF community. You'll be a hero helping to raise much-needed funds for the Children's Tumour Foundation of Australia, the only dedicated support service for people with NF, and funding for research into new treatments and a cure.
