OVERVIEW
I wrote a blog post about the essential items in my pantry for Asian cooking
This free interactive class will go through these ingredients and will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and for all participants to share tips about how various condiments are used in everyday cooking.
We'll also make a simple CHILLI OIL that can be stored in your pantry for months, and also mouthwatering Sichuan SESAME NOODLES, a delicious cold noodle dish, that can be eaten as a side dish or a main if paired with some veggies and protein. The dish can be spicy or mild. It's so moreish, you'll keep going back for more!
A detailed list of ingredients will be sent to confirmed participants and it's up to you whether you want to cook along or take notes and make the dish later. The noodles will make a simple but delicious dinner after the class.
Key ingredients include:
-vegetable oil
-chilli flakes
-Sichuan peppercorns (optional)
-star anise, cinnamon stick or 5-spice powder (optional)
-your choice of noodles - dried wheat noodles, fresh egg noodles, rice noodles for gluten free option
-light soy sauce
-Chinese black vinegar or balsamic
-sesame paste and/or peanut butter
-garlic & ginger (optional)
-beansprouts and cucumber
-shredded cooked chicken, egg or firm tofu (optional)
-Asian green
