Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia, it's the 6th most visited website on the internet. Wikipedia content is created and edited worldwide by volunteer contributors. It has long been acknowledged that there is a lack of diversity among contributors.

People are meeting up across the world to help remedy the imbalance and bias in the diversity of voices on Wikipedia. The City of Sydney Library has joined this movement, hosting edit-a-thons to increase and improve content relevant to our diverse communities.

Everyone is welcome to join our edit-a-thon presented in partnership with Wikimedia Australia. Highly decorated Paralympian and passionate advocate Sarah Stewart will speak about the importance of diverse voices in documenting Australian Paralympic history.

The editing will be led by Tony Naar, Greg Blood and Ross Mallet who manage the Australian Paralympic History Project. Wikipedia editors Toby Hudson and Caddie Brain will help participants improve articles about Paralympians and the Paralympic Games.

No experience is necessary to join the edit-a-thon. Participants are encouraged to set up a Wikipedia account prior to the workshop.
