1623 France. A fishing village. An angler gets a bite - a phenomenal fish-woman, the perfect catch. They connect. She plunges back into the English Channel leaving him unsatiated.

2023 France. An English backpacker's phone vibrates. A series of hookups follow - a dinner date, a jetty, an innocent gelato, an unexpected foray in shallow waters…

About the company

Clockfire theatre company is an independent Australian theatre company founded in 2012 who create highly visual and physical performance through a process of intensive collaboration led by Artistic Director, Emily Ayoub and Associate Artistic Director Madeline Baghurst. Clockfire is committed to the making of new Australian theatre through a genuinely group-devised, ensemble-based process. Sydney-based but not Sydney-bound, the ensemble aim to develop original stories which are imaginative, visceral evocations of the everyday and beyond.

Known as 'Sydney's absurdist innovators', Clockfire were most recently invited to devise and perform the world premiere production The Night Parade of One Hundred Goblins, commissioned and co-produced by The Art Gallery of NSW for Sydney Festival 2020. The sell-out season received critical acclaim and was our most recent offering in a series of innovative, highly physical theatre experiences. The company was founded in 2012.

'... It is a style of performance that we rarely see in the landscapes of Australian art and is hence, an immediately refreshing experience for our audiences.' - Suzy Wrong.
