RECKONING brings together the work of nine print and book artists from across the eastern coast of the country who are grappling with Australia's relationship to extraction. Using a variety of approaches, including screen print, photo montage, letterpress, photography and the artist's book, the works investigate the effects of extraction on us, our environment and our politics.

As climate crisis increasingly makes itself felt through extreme weather, bushfires and a global pandemic, the question of how to deal with Australia's ongoing relationship to extraction becomes more and more pressing. Responding to this urgency, the works in the exhibition address these problems by focusing on media such as books, zines, and posters that are associated with delivering information and packing a punch.
