Australia's first TikTok-inspired pop up restaurant, coming to Redfern on Thursday 23rd June.
While older generations of Aussies may look back at their student days with the nostalgia of friends, community and entertaining, new research highlights today's undergraduates are still reeling from the hang-over of isolation.
The new research commissioned by Scape, Australia's largest student accommodation operator, sadly revealed almost 75 percent of students who live out of home eat alone and are settling for a fairly basic revolving repertoire of recipes with the humble toastie (30%), pasta with sauce (52%) and stir-fry (51%) remaining firm favourites*.
The Scape study also found the nation's students are urgently searching for a sense of freedom(66%) and independence (63%), but nearly half (46%) of tertiary students 18+ are still stuck living at home with their parents.
As a result, Scape is on a mission to revive student life, announcing the launch of its first TikTok Creator Cook-up pop-up restaurant in partnership with Australia's biggest TikTok foodie stars to reimagine the humble toastie, pasta with sauce and stir fry.
Diners can look forward to:
Morgan Hipworth's pasta with sauce: Nothing is Impastable - sweet tortellini filled with a Nutella Ricotta filling and served with raspberry coulis and hazelnut praline.
Vincent Yeow Lim's twist on a toastie: YumYumcha - Ham & Cheese Shumai, XO, garlic butter, toast croutons, and topped with gold leaf.
Priya Sharma's stir fry reinvented: Samosa be a stir fry - A mash-up of cuisines combining an Indian classic with a go-to student dish - the stir fry! From the outside, this Samosa will look just as delicious and crunchy as any other but break it open and you'll find it filled with a classic plant-based stir fry - noodles and all!
The Scape TikTok Creator Cook-up will open as an exclusive, one-night-only foodie extravaganza from 6:30 - 9:30 PM on Thursday 23rd June in a dining room takeover at Scape Redfern.
