Seagull is a vivid and contemporary, site-specific translation and adaptation by Karen Vickery of Chekhov's masterpiece. A country house near a lake is the scene in which love triangles, quarrels about the theatre, and egos erupt.
Aging celebrity actress, Irina, returns to the family property with her much younger lover, Boris - a famous writer. Their arrival creates a storm in which love is thwarted, egos threatened, and heated arguments about the theatre and literature erupt. The first of Chekhov's masterpieces, Seagull is a bitter-sweet tragi-comedy in an idyllic setting.
Bring a picnic and a rug and enjoy this indoor-outdoor performance that makes full use of the historic site of ACT Hub, at the Old Causeway Hall in Kingston. (In the case of threatening weather, the performance will take place indoors. Some seating is available for those with accessibility needs.)
The cast includes Joel Horwood, Amy Kowalczuk, Arran McKenna, Neil McLeod, Karen Vickery, Natasha Vickery, Meaghen Stewart, Michael Sparks, James McMahon and Josh Wiseman.
